YES! Right on our doorstep, we have been invited to display at this new show, taking place at the Royal Bath and West Showground. There will be the “Solar Challenge” exhibit, a number of SWAMBC clubs, and trade stands. The lake will be in use and there will be camping on-site. Model Tanks, Helicopters, Railways, Cars, War gaming, Military Displays and all model making hobbies will be on display. This is an ideal situation for the Drifters, as I mentioned, “it’s on our patch” for those members who cannot attend “away” festivals and events. It is FREE, NO administration or entrance charge for exhibitors. Only just down the road from Shepton Mallet, on 12th and 13th April from 9.30 to 5.30pm daily. We have received a list of models for sale from Brenda West of Chris's proffessionally built model craft. These are being offered for sale to members in the first instant, if any paid up club member wishes to have a copy of the list please e-mail or see Jackie or Barrie.
The 1st round of this year’s competition will be held in Shepton on the above date. It would be great to see a good turn out from the Drifters supporting the event. What better test for your new boat or to prove how well you can handle your old one. Even if you don’t want to compete come and watch and additional help is always gratefully received. Hope to see you there!
Unfortunatley we have been informed that the popular show The Yeovil Festival has been cancelled for 2007! This was scheduled to take place on August 11th & 12th.
Dont forget the next club meeting at the Thatched Cottage on Monday 12th March when Ted P will be giving a presentation on his Naval exploits!
The funeral for Chris will be on Friday 9th February, 1pm, at the South Bristol Crematorium, Family flowers only but donations for cancer research can be given to or be sent to Mrs Brenda West, 151 Stockwood Lane, Stockwood, Bristol. BS14 8SZ.
Sadly we have to report on the untimley death of local modeller Chris West. Chris was the main insigator of the modelling part of the Bristol Harbourside Regatta. Our thoughts are with Brenda and family.
Due to lack of use we have removed the Message Board, & Calendar all club events will be put on the Club Events page when I have received the tri fold fron Ted.

We are asking that you come in from the Park Road end, drive down through keeping to the path please to drop off, then drive out through the Collet Road end to park up. It is with great regret that we have to announce the untimely death of club member Steve Webb yesterday. Steve was a supporter of many events in the South West and was renown for his display and operation of model submarines.

03/8/06 With the continued weed problem at Collett park lake making it totally unsailable don't forget we can also use Charlton Brewery Lake which is weed free. We have had a nice neighbourly offer by the Yeovil Model Warship Association for club members to use their lake at Half Way House, Yeovil while Collett lake is out of action, many thanks for the offer Rob and team.
25/6/06 During Collett Day this year some excellent 3d photos were taken of the models on the lake. You will need some 3D glases to view, but on the same page are some old photos of Collet Park lake (going back to 1909!) showing the old fountain and the visit from Royality click here to view then click on gallery and then Shepton Mallet.
24/6/06 A quick note that the Scale Steering event to be held at Collett Park lake will be held on Sunday 25th June
12/6/06 Sadly our old problem at Collett Park Lake has reappeared ie WEED!!! Also the water levels appear to be dropping. We did have a few casualties on Collett Day of failed speed controllers due to weeded up props. If you intend to sail on Wednesday evening please take note if you are travelling any distance that it may be unsailable!!

Saturday with the 2nd round of Tug Towing on the Sunday. Camping is
available on site from Friday so we look forward to seeing lots of you

21/1/06 Sedgemoor vs Drifters Skittles match - 18th March from Russ Chilcott
As part of our "Care in the Community Programme" the Sedgemoor MBC would like to invite members from the Shepton Mallet Drifters MBC to game of Skittles on Saturday 18th March at the Red Cow, Brent Knoll from 7.30pm. There will be a buffet at £7 per head (that's the only reason our members come along!) which includes chicken portions, chips, quiche, sausages, goujons of plaice, garlic mushrooms, vol au vents, salads, etc. You are welcome to come along for an enjoyable evening out in good company, or alternatively join us for a "friendly" game of skittles - unless of course, we lose again!

Today at the Bristol Model Soldier Show in Bath. Dave Semper won in his class for his diorama of Nelson Last Stand. Dave also won the best model in show!!!
30/10/05 Colins Yacht Recovered from Yeovil Warship Lake!
After the first small yacht racing of the winter series at Yeovil on Sunday 23rd October Colin swapped transmitters with our Chairman unfortunatley the yacht sank in about 3M of water!! Fortunately the Yeovil Warship team managed to recover the yacht intact (virtually!). The moral of the story DONT LOAN YOUR MODEL TO OUR CHAIRMAN!!
