Apologies for the inconvenience.

Drifters Christmas Festivities and Night Sail 2011
This year as some may have gathered from the last meeting we are participating in the Lantern Festival which is being held on Thursday 22nd December the date of the winter solstice ie the shortest day! The plan is that at Collett Park Lake on 22nd we will have a mini illuminated display with model craft and the usual candles around the island for only say 1 hour. This will be for the start of the children’s lantern Festival when they will parade around the lake before walking down to the market cross in Shepton. The planned time to start the parade is 19:00hrs (7pm) hence if the modellers who are prepared to operated illuminated models could assemble at 18:00 that will be fine also as there is limited hard standings for cars in the park please let Barrie know if you intend to brave the elements and sail with your boats with lights on. The second part of the festivities for the Drifters will be a static display of model craft (and toys if you have any?) to be held in a disused shop called Pickwicks in the Market square which will be the end of the Lantern parade but it is planned for a hog roast, Fire eaters and a carnival float etc as well as the shops extending their opening hours. We will have access to the Pickwicks shop the day before so that we can give it a clean up and set up the tables and chairs etc. From midday onwards on the 22nd we can start to sett up the display of models, there is a downstairs to the shop we can use but may be more suitable for the able bodied modellers!! At a guess the ending of the Pickwicks Shop display will be around 21:00hrs (9PM) all depending on weather! There are car parks close to the Market Cross but we will be able to drive close to the shop for off loading. Again if you are planning to exhibit at Pickwicks could you please let Jackie or Barrie know. This should be a good PR exercise for the Drifters working with the council and other groups in Shepton Mallet.
